Honor Power 2 Keeps Up a Nuclear Reactor Sized Battery in a Slim Profile

Until recently, smartphones with batteries larger than 5,000mAh were usually bulky and rugged devices. Advances in silicon-carbon (Si/C) anode battery technology have changed that. Higher energy density cells now allow manufacturers to pack much larger batteries into slimmer phones. Honor has taken full advantage of this shift with the Power2, which crosses the 10,000mAh mark while staying under 8mm thick.

The Honor Power2 has now launched officially in China, positioning itself as one of the most battery-focused smartphones on the market.

Design and Display

Despite its massive battery, the Honor Power2 maintains a relatively slim profile. The phone measures 7.98mm thick and weighs 216 grams. It also offers strong durability credentials with IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance.

On the front, the device features a 6.79-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel reaches up to 1,800 nits of peak local brightness. It includes a 16MP selfie camera and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The phone is available in Midnight Black, Sunrise Orange, and Snowfield White.

Internals and Software

The Honor Power2 is the first smartphone to launch with MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500 Elite chipset. The processor uses an all-big-core CPU layout built on ARM Cortex-A725 cores. It includes one prime core clocked at 3.4GHz, three cores running at 3.2GHz, and four cores operating at 2.2GHz.

Graphics are handled by a Mali-G720 MC8 GPU. Benchmark results show the chipset scoring over 2.4 million points on AnTuTu.

The phone is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and comes with either 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. On the software side, the Power2 runs MagicOS 10 based on Android 16.

Cameras

The camera setup on the Honor Power2 is straightforward. It features a 50MP main camera with an f/1.9 aperture and optical image stabilization. This is accompanied by a 5MP ultrawide camera. The front-facing camera is a 16MP sensor housed within the display cutout.

Battery and Pricing

The standout feature of the Honor Power2 is its 10,080mAh silicon-carbon battery. Honor claims the phone can deliver more than 20 hours of continuous use. According to the company, users can expect up to 26 hours of video playback, 17 hours of navigation, or 14 hours of non-stop gaming.

The battery supports 80W wired fast charging. The Power2 can also be used as a power bank, offering reverse wired charging for other devices at speeds of up to 27W.

Pricing in China starts at $385 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. The 12GB and 512GB model is priced $428. Open sales in China begin on Friday, January 9. Honor has not confirmed whether the Power2 will launch in markets outside China.
