NCCIA Warns Pakistan of Cyber Harassment Surge in the Country

The National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has issued an alert warning the public about the rising threat of cyber harassment and the importance of taking timely action to stay safe online.

The agency stressed that online abuse can take many forms and should be reported without delay.

According to the alert, cyber harassment includes threatening or abusive messages, sexual harassment, blackmail, spreading false rumors, and sharing private photos or videos without a victim’s consent. The NCCIA said such acts cause serious psychological harm and are punishable under the law.

The agency advised internet users to limit the sharing of personal information on digital platforms and to immediately block and report individuals involved in online abuse. It also recommended preserving evidence, including screenshots, messages, and call logs, and seeking support from trusted friends, family members, or relevant authorities.

The NCCIA clarified that cyber harassment is a criminal offense and that victims have the right to seek legal protection. The agency urged affected individuals to contact the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency for assistance and emphasized that no one should remain silent when facing online abuse.
