Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced another temporary halt in gas supply to the industrial sector, citing the need to maintain pressure for household and commercial users during the winter season.
A company spokesperson said industries will face a 24-hour shutdown, with supply suspended from 8 am on January 11 to 8 am on January 12.
The utility said the move is aimed at improving gas pressure for homes and businesses so consumers are not hit with shortages amid colder weather.
The suspension is expected to disrupt industrial activity, with stakeholders warning that production may suffer. Industry representatives have criticized the repeated shutdowns and urged authorities to develop a long-term fix to the gas shortfall.
SSGC officials said supply to industries will be resumed once system conditions stabilize.
