Sialkot Announces PSL Franchise Reveal Date

Sialkot’s new owners have announced that they will reveal the official logo and name of their Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) franchise in a couple of days.

The update came from Kamil Khan, a co-owner of the Sialkot franchise, who said the ownership group approached the PSL auction with a clear roadmap and long-term ambitions for the team.

Sialkot was confirmed as the PSL’s eighth franchise after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) awarded the team to OZ Developers, owned by Hamza Majeed, during a high-profile auction held at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad.

With the addition of new teams, the PSL will grow from six to eight sides starting in 2026, with the tournament scheduled to run from March 26 to May 3.

Speaking in Lahore, Khan said the franchise wants to put together a competitive squad by targeting top overseas names while also building a strong support structure at home.

“Our aim is to bring top international talent to the Sialkot team,” he said, adding that the franchise will also depend on a capable local coaching unit to develop players and represent the region effectively.

Khan also voiced confidence that PSL’s popularity will remain strong, saying crowds turn up no matter where matches are hosted. “Wherever the PSL is played, the fans will turn up,” he said, calling the league a major attraction for cricket followers nationwide.

Looking ahead, he highlighted the potential matchups against Lahore Qalandars as one of the fixtures he is most eager for, describing it as a rivalry that will be intense on the field but friendly off it. Khan also praised the PSL’s role in strengthening Pakistan’s cricket system and said the league’s trajectory remains upward.

He added that major decisions regarding the franchise will be taken in consultation with the PCB. “Everything will be finalized in coordination with the PCB,” he said.
