Balochistan to Hire 4,000 School Teachers

Balochistan has announced a fresh round of hiring to ease a severe shortage of subject specialists in government schools, with the provincial administration planning to bring in 4,000 teachers on an ad hoc basis under its Academic Excellence Programme.

Education Secretary Asfandyar Khan Kakar said the recruitment drive is aimed at filling gaps in core subjects, particularly English, Mathematics, and Science, where schools across the province are struggling to staff classrooms.

He noted that government schools are currently facing a 70–80% shortfall in teachers for these key subjects. To tackle the issue, he said, the provincial government has prepared a summary seeking approval for the hiring of 4,000 teachers.

According to Kakar, the appointments will be made in Grade 17 on an ad hoc basis, and officials expect the move to strengthen teaching capacity and improve learning outcomes in public-sector schools.

The education secretary also said the government has recently reactivated thousands of non-functional schools that had remained closed due to a lack of teachers or absenteeism, calling the new hiring plan another step toward stabilizing the education system in the province.
