Lahore Zoo to Launch Night-Time Visits and Shows

The Lahore Zoo will begin offering night-time visits starting next month, allowing visitors to explore selected areas after dark and enjoy weekend entertainment, officials said. Punjab Wildlife and Parks Department Director General Mobeen Elahi said the zoo plans to introduce night visits from February.

He said the zoo will open specific sections in the evening, including the lion enclosures, Reptile House, fish aquarium, and Hologram Zoo. The management will use ambient lighting to illuminate the food court, lake, trees, and the hill inside the zoo during night hours.

Elahi said the zoo will also arrange puppet shows for children, while live music performances will take place on weekends. He added that the night zoo will remain open until 9pm. Weekend entry tickets will cost more than weekday tickets because of the additional entertainment, though the department has not finalized the prices.

The director general said the zoo will revamp its food court and later outsource it to an international food chain. Authorities have already invited bids from local food vendors through a formal tender process.

Addressing concerns about animal welfare, Elahi said the zoo will only open areas housing nocturnal animals at night to avoid disturbing wildlife. He added that the standard daytime entry fee remains Rs. 100, which allows visitors to access the zoo, while charges for night visits and additional attractions will be announced separately.

Officials said the zoo adopted the night-visit concept from international models such as the Singapore Zoo.
