Met Office Predicts Rain and Snow in Several Areas

Cold conditions have intensified across much of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as the Pakistan Meteorological Department reported the likelihood of rain, fog, and light snowfall in several districts.

The department said dense cloud cover continued to blanket Peshawar and surrounding areas, worsening the cold. It forecast dry but very cold weather for most districts, while upper and mountainous regions will remain extremely cold with partly cloudy skies.

The department predicted light rain and snowfall in Upper Dir, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Upper Swat, and Mansehra.

In the plains, including Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Karak, and Bannu, the department warned of fog formation during night and early morning hours. It also cautioned that fog would reduce visibility in Lakki Marwat, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan, particularly on motorways, national highways, and the GT Road.

The department added that mist may develop late at night and early in the morning in both upper and plain areas of the province.

Meanwhile, cold weather has tightened its grip on South Punjab. The Pakistan Meteorological Department said several cities continued to experience cold mornings and nights with limited sunshine.

The department reported that Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Rahim Yar Khan remained under cold conditions, while fog and moisture near canals and low-lying areas further intensified the chill, especially during nighttime.
