Two Major Airports Ordered to Improve Passenger Facilities

The Ministry of Defense has issued a notice to Karachi and Lahore airports over shortcomings in passenger immigration and related facilities, ARY News reported on Monday, citing sources.

Sources said the Secretary of Defense directed airport authorities to improve passenger services, particularly for returning overseas Pakistanis, in line with international standards.

Under the new instructions, airport administrations must increase the number of immigration counters to reduce waiting times, especially during peak hours when passengers face prolonged delays while entering terminals.

The ministry also ordered the installation of additional security scanning machines to improve passenger handling and convenience.

According to the sources, the Ministry of Defense received multiple complaints about hours-long delays affecting the arrival and departure of international passengers at both airports.

The notice directs airport administrations to strictly implement the instructions without delay. The ministry also warned that it may take further action against airport management if passenger complaints continue.
