PTA Responds to Internet Slowdown Warning for January 15

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has clarified reports suggesting that internet services across the country will experience disruption or slowdown on January 15.

According to PTA officials, there is no truth to claims circulating on social media regarding any nationwide connectivity issues on the said date.

The authority confirmed that internet services across Pakistan remain stable, and no interruptions have been reported.

PTA further clarified that major upstream providers, including Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) and Transworld, are operating normally with no service degradation observed on their networks.

The clarification comes after concerns emerged following an email sent by internet service provider Nayatel to its customers, notifying them of unavoidable maintenance activity on one of Pakistan’s submarine cables scheduled for January 15, 2026, around 2 PM.

The email stated that the work could last up to eight hours and might cause internet slowness; however, it did not specify the name or location of the affected cable.

Responding to these concerns, PTA officials emphasized that routine maintenance on submarine cables does not typically affect internet services across the country. They assured users that no inconvenience is expected and that consumers will continue to experience smooth and uninterrupted internet connectivity nationwide.
