Pakistani senior tennis player Talha Waheed has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records for setting a new world record by completing 59 successful tennis serves in one minute.
Talha was invited to the Guinness World Records headquarters to receive the official certificate during a formal ceremony recognizing his achievement.
He set the record on November 8, 2024, at a tennis facility in Lahore. The earlier record of 42 serves had remained unbeaten since 2019.
Talha Waheed said his achievement represents an important milestone for Pakistan’s sports community and highlights the potential of senior athletes who continue to compete at the highest level.
Talha holds multiple titles in the 35+, 40+, and 45+ doubles categories at both national events and International Tennis Federation senior tournaments.
Following the achievement, the Pakistan Tennis Federation described Talha as a seasoned competitor. President of the Pakistan Tennis Federation, Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and other tennis players congratulated him, saying that securing a place in the Guinness Book of World Records is a rare and difficult accomplishment.
After receiving the record certificate, Talha also met with Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Dr Mohammad Faisal. The High Commissioner congratulated Talha and praised his dedication, discipline, and perseverance.
Dr. Mohammad Faisal mentioned that this achievement has brought pride to Pakistan and enhanced the country’s sporting reputation on the global stage.
He further added that Talha’s success is not only a personal milestone but also an inspiration for young athletes. He said the world record would help promote tennis at the grassroots level and contribute positively to the development of sports culture in Pakistan.
