The Governing Council of the Pakistan Super League has confirmed that PSL 11 will begin on March 26, setting the timeline for the next edition of the tournament as the league moves into what officials described as a new phase.
The decision was finalized on Friday during a high-level meeting at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore, chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
Representatives from all eight PSL franchises attended, along with senior officials from the Pakistan Cricket Board and the PSL management.
Alongside confirming the start date, the league is also weighing a major change to how squads are built. Officials are considering a new hybrid recruitment approach being referred to as a “drauction,” a mix of a draft and an auction, after using a draft system for the first ten seasons.
A final decision was not reached at Friday’s meeting, and a working group has been formed to continue talks over the weekend before the governing council reconvenes if needed.
The debate has become more complicated due to the planned addition of two new franchises from Hyderabad and Sialkot, as the league tries to strike a balance between allowing existing teams to retain players and giving the new teams a fair chance to sign top talent.
Reports indicate the new franchises are pushing for fewer retentions and are among those advocating for an auction-style model, while several existing teams are understood to prefer keeping the draft structure.
Further announcements regarding the full match schedule and player-related timelines are expected as preparations for PSL 11 progress.

No they should let the existing teams retain players as a gesture that they bought the teams when it wasn’t even clear that psl would be a success or not
