The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has introduced a new facility aimed at preventing the blocking of mobile SIMs of Overseas Pakistanis during their stay abroad.
Under this initiative, subscribers can inform their respective mobile service providers to keep their SIMs active for a specified period. This will be subject to applicable charges, if any.
According to PTA, the measure is designed to help Pakistani citizens living overseas retain ownership of their mobile SIMs and avoid suspension or blocking while they are outside the country. The facility ensures continued access to mobile services through local service providers, addressing a long-standing issue faced by overseas users.
PTA has also shared specific guidelines for prepaid subscribers. To keep their connection active and registered in their name, users must carry out at least one activity within 180 days. This includes making a call, sending an SMS, using mobile data, or loading balance.
For postpaid subscribers, the authority stated that timely payment of monthly line rent and clearance of any outstanding dues will be enough to maintain the active status of their SIMs.
PTA advised all subscribers to remain in regular contact with their service providers and strictly follow usage and payment requirements to ensure uninterrupted mobile services during their stay abroad.
