Chinese phone makers continue to put the iPhone Air to shame with way better specs at lower price tags.
The RedMagic 11 Air was unveiled in China earlier today, positioning itself between slim flagship phones and dedicated gaming devices. The phone keeps core gaming features while adopting a thinner and lighter design, including a transparent back, an active RGB cooling fan, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset from last year.
The RedMagic 11 Air features the brand’s signature transparent design and measures 7.85mm in thickness while weighing 207 grams. Despite its slimmer profile compared to most gaming phones, it still includes an internal cooling fan capable of spinning at up to 24,000 RPM. The phone also carries an IP54 rating for protection against dust and water splashes.
On the front, the device uses a 6.85-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,216 x 2,688 pixels and a 144Hz refresh rate. The panel is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i and houses a 16MP under-display selfie camera, keeping the screen free of notches or punch holes. An optical fingerprint scanner is integrated beneath the display. The phone is offered in Quantum Black and Stardust White color options.
Powering the RedMagic 11 Air is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The phone is available with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM, offering memory bandwidth of up to 9,600 MB per second. Storage options go up to 512GB using UFS 4.1 technology, delivering read speeds of up to 4,200 MB per second.
The device includes capacitive shoulder triggers designed for gaming input. On the software side, it runs RedMagic OS 11.0, which is based on Android 16.
The rear camera setup consists of two sensors. The main camera uses a 50MP sensor with a 23mm equivalent focal length, a 1/1.55 inch sensor size, and optical image stabilization. It is paired with an 8MP ultra-wide camera. Camera specifications for the front remain limited to the under-display 16MP sensor.
The RedMagic 11 Air is equipped with a 7,000mAh battery and supports 120W wired fast charging.
Pricing in China starts at $502 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. The higher 16GB RAM and 512GB storage model is priced at $602. The company has not announced any timeline for availability outside China.
