A strong western disturbance is expected to affect the upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from January 21 to 24, which may increase the flow in streams and tributaries connected to the Kabul River.
According to the NDMA alert, heavy rainfall and snowfall may trigger flash floods in several districts, including Swat, Chitral, Buner, Shangla, Upper and Lower Dir, Malakand, Bajaur, Mardan, Swabi, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram, Torghar, Haripur, Kolai-Palas, Kohistan, and Azad Kashmir.
Authorities have been instructed to remain on high alert and closely monitor vulnerable areas.
Traffic on the Lowari Tunnel Road is running normally. Authorities have advised travelers to use snow chains.
Punjab Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed instructed all relevant departments to remain on high alert 24/7 and provide guidance and protection to tourists to avoid any unexpected disasters.
