Thousands of Matric-Pass Teachers Are Teaching in Punjab Schools

According to the latest data from the School Education Department, over 14,000 teachers in Punjab’s public schools have only completed matriculation. Overall, 60% of the teachers are male, while 40% are female.

The statistics show that 752 teachers hold PhDs, 40,000 have MPhil degrees, 62,000 possess BA/BSE qualifications, and over 200,000 teachers are serving with master’s degrees. Additionally, more than 9,000 teachers have FA/FSc certifications.

The School Education Department stated that this data has been compiled to aid policymaking and improve education standards. However, education experts have expressed concerns over the large number of low-educated teachers.
