PTA Issues Clarification Against Reports of Massive Reduction in Phone Taxes

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has termed a notification circulating on social media as false and misleading, which claims a reduction in mobile phone taxes and issues alleged instructions for mobile phone importers and consumers.

In an official clarification, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority said it has not issued any notification or directive related to a cut in mobile phone taxes or any change in rules for mobile phone imports.

The authority said the notification being widely shared online has no official basis and appears to be aimed at misleading consumers and mobile phone importers.

According to the PTA, no instructions have been issued to importers or the public regarding mobile taxation, and reports suggesting relief in mobile phone taxes are completely fake.

The regulator urged citizens to avoid sharing unverified information and advised the public to rely only on the PTA’s official website and its verified social media accounts for accurate and authentic updates.

Editor’s Note: PTA’s clarification is aimed at viral social media reports making baseless claims about mobile phone taxes. Exclusive reports, first published by ProPakistani, about the new reduced customs valuation for imports for four mobile brands are factually correct and officially notified.

  • According to the PTA, no instructions have been issued to importers or the public regarding mobile taxation, and reports suggesting relief in mobile phone taxes are completely fake.

of course why would they reduce tax on 4 year old phones? they will charge them maximum.

  • If i remember correctly pta said they don’t know about taxes its fbr and now they come forward with explanation while fbr still sleeping.
