Saudi Arabia to Announce 340,000 New Jobs

Saudi Arabia has announced plans to generate over 340,000 jobs for its citizens in the private sector over the next three years, launching the second phase of its Nitaqat AlMutawar program.

The initiative aims to increase Saudi participation in private employment while reducing reliance on expatriate labor.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development highlighted that the first phase of the program, introduced in 2022, employed more than 550,000 Saudis, surpassing its original target of 340,000 jobs.

The new phase focuses on both job creation and improving employment quality, supporting sustainable economic growth.

Minister Ahmed Al Rajhi said the program is designed to balance accelerated Saudization with private-sector competitiveness.

“Our goal is to create opportunities for Saudi nationals in a way that strengthens economic growth,” he stated, noting that earlier phases proved Saudi citizens excel across diverse professions.

Deputy Minister Abdullah Abuthnain added that the second phase relies on extensive studies across industries and business sizes, enabling realistic Saudization rates that reflect market conditions.

The initiative is expected to enhance job stability, productivity, and long-term sustainability in the Saudi labor market.

The program also aims to boost private-sector confidence and maintain a healthy balance between labor supply and demand while empowering national talent for long-term economic impact.
