Two English Star Players Close to Joining PSL 11

The 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) could be set for a major overseas boost as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly in discussions to bring England stars Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow through direct signings.

While PSL sides typically build squads through the draft, marquee overseas additions are often pursued separately, especially when teams want a proven international name to headline their campaign and add instant credibility to the lineup.

Among the franchises, Islamabad United is being widely mentioned as the most likely team to land either Root or Bairstow. The franchise is understood to be exploring ways to strengthen its batting resources and add top-tier star power ahead of the new season.

If the move materializes, it would be one of the biggest English additions to the league in recent years, both from a cricketing standpoint and in terms of commercial pull.

Even with talks reportedly progressing, availability remains the key piece of the puzzle. Modern calendars are crowded, and overseas participation often depends on windows, workload management, and required clearances.

For now, neither the PCB nor the players have officially confirmed any deal. But if negotiations are completed, PSL 11 could soon have two of England’s most recognizable names in the mix, giving the tournament a timely jolt of international star wattage.
