New PSL Team Confirms Coaching Staff

The Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) newly introduced Hyderabad franchise has appointed former Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie as head coach ahead of the upcoming season.

The franchise has also named Craig White and Grant Bradburn as assistant coaches, completing a coaching group with wide-ranging international and domestic experience.

The announcement was confirmed by Fawad Sarwar in an exclusive interview with Express Tribune, where he said the inclusion of experienced foreign coaches would play a central role in player development and the team’s overall performance.

Jason Gillespie most recently served as head coach of the Pakistan Test cricket team, a role he took on in 2023. A former Australian international with more than 250 international wickets, he has also built a strong coaching résumé through his work in both domestic and international cricket.

Craig White brings experience from English county cricket and has previously worked with Yorkshire County Cricket Club, as well as holding roles within the England national team setup. His background includes a strong focus on player development and performance at both domestic and international levels.

Grant Bradburn also has an established history in Pakistan cricket, having worked within the country’s high-performance system and previously serving in coaching roles with the national men’s team. His familiarity with Pakistan’s domestic structure and emerging talent is viewed as a key asset for the new franchise.

The Hyderabad franchise believes this high-caliber coaching setup provides a solid foundation as the team prepares for its first Pakistan Super League campaign.

Addressing the team’s leadership, Sarwar said the franchise will not appoint a captain based on reputation or seniority. He explained that Hyderabad will follow its own selection process, and the captain could be any player, Pakistani or overseas, so long as they demonstrate strong leadership qualities.

Sarwar also confirmed that several players are being considered for direct signings ahead of the season, but said discussions are still ongoing and no names can be shared at this stage.

He further added that the franchise’s full name and logo have already been finalized and will be officially unveiled soon, likely around the time of the player auction, with a major launch event planned.
