PM Laptop Scheme Launched Across the Province

The Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme has been formally launched in Sindh from NED University Karachi, with 20,000 laptops to be distributed among students across the province.

Federal Government Spokesperson for Sindh Affairs Raja Khaliq Zaman Ansari said the initiative aims to equip students with modern technology and digital skills, calling youth education a key pillar of national development.

He said the scheme, which was discontinued in 2018, has been restored by the current federal government with a renewed focus on transparency and effective implementation.

Ansari credited the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme leadership for reviving the initiative and said the laptop distribution would support students in research, information technology, and advanced learning.

He added that the federal government is taking concrete steps to ensure students in Sindh are included in national education and technology initiatives.

With due respect, it is hereby stated that our Lahore University of Biological and Applied Sciences (UBAS) is not enrolled in CM Punjab Laptop scheme for public sector and private sector students. Although UBAS is private but is HEC Approved and as per instructions and policies of Laptop Scheme, it should have been added. We respectfully request you to add our university also in the list. Moreover, UBAS has already been selected for Honhaar Scholarship, so kindly enlist our University as soon as possible so that we can apply before the deadline.

      Thank you for your bringing your valid concerns to our attention. However, after rigorous reviews by professionals in the industry, we have come to the conclusion that the students of UBAS do not require free laptops. According to our surveys, more than 80% of students (of UBAS) are well off and can afford laptops. Furthermore, the final decision of enrolling a university in the laptop scheme lies with us, and the policies of the scheme are merely suggestions and are NOT final by any means. In addition, a university being enrolled in a seperate program does not necessitate its inclusion in another. Rest assured, your voice is heard, and for the next scheme, we will keep your opinion in mind. We hope you understand, and we thank you for your cooperation.

    • Thanks to Federal Govt. For this much needed Laptop scheme for youth.
      Shame on Sindh Govt for not doing anything like this since 2008.
