PSL 11 Player Retention Deadline Date Revealed

The first Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) Player Retention deadline is now locked in, and franchises don’t have much time to make tough calls.

According to the latest update, each PSL team can retain one player per category until February 3. Once that window closes, all remaining players must be released into the auction pool, setting the stage for the league’s first-ever player auction.

The PSL 11 auction will be held on February 11, marking a major shift as the league moves away from the traditional draft model and into an auction-based system for the first time.

This season is already being billed as a “reset” for squads, and for good reason. PSL 11 will be the first edition with eight teams, with Hyderabad and Sialkot joining the competition. That expansion, combined with a new recruitment system, means franchises are now building squads with a stronger focus on structure, balance, and long-term planning.

Ahead of the retention deadline, PSL has also confirmed category renewals for local players, which will directly shape how franchises plan their retentions and auction strategy.

In the Platinum category, big names include Shadab Khan (Islamabad United), Shaheen Shah Afridi (Lahore Qalandars), Babar Azam (Peshawar Zalmi), and Mohammad Rizwan (Multan Sultans), among others.

The Diamond group features several key performers as well, including Abbas Afridi (Karachi Kings), Abdullah Shafique (Lahore Qalandars), Usama Mir and Iftikhar Ahmed (Multan Sultans), and Saud Shakeel (Quetta Gladiators).

The Gold, Silver, and Emerging categories have also been refreshed, with multiple young and developing players placed in the mix.

The PCB has already briefed franchises on how the auction will work, including player pricing, squad rules, and team budgets.
