PCB Reveals Pakistan Shaheens Squad for England Series

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 16-player Pakistan Shaheens squad for the upcoming white-ball series against the England Lions in Abu Dhabi.

The tour features two formats. First, Shaheens will play a three-match T20 series starting on February 20. After that, the teams will contest a five-match 50-over series running from February 27 to March 9. All matches will be held at the Stadium Oval in Abu Dhabi.

Before leaving for the UAE, the Shaheens will take part in a seven-day training camp in Karachi from February 11 to 17 to prepare for both formats.

Left-handed batter Shamyl Hussain has been named captain for the T20 and 50-over legs. He will have support in the batting unit from Abdul Samad, Hasan Nawaz, ACC Men’s Asia Cup Rising Stars Player of the Tournament Maaz Sadaqat, and left-hander Saad Khan.

The squad also includes Pakistan Under-19 batter Sameer Minhas for both series. He joins his brother Arafat Minhas in the setup as the pair continue to build on strong performances from the ICC Under-19 World Cup and the ACC Men’s Asia Cup Rising Stars.

For wicketkeeping responsibilities, Rohail Nazir and Saad Baig have been selected. In the spin department, Pakistan have options in Arafat Minhas, leg-spinner Saad Masood, and left-arm wrist-spinner Sufiyan Muqeem.

The fast-bowling group includes Under-19 pacer Ali Raza along with Ahmed Daniyal, Akif Javed, Mohammad Salman, and Shahid Aziz.

Sarfaraz Ahmed will travel as mentor and team manager. The coaching staff will be led by former Test cricketer Ijaz Ahmed Jr as head coach, with Mansoor Amjad appointed fielding coach and former Test pacer Aizaz Cheema serving as bowling coach. Mohammad Tahir will work as physiotherapist, while Usman Hashmi will be the performance analyst.
