The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly decided not to market or sell Pakistan Super League (PSL) broadcast and media rights for India ahead of the tournament’s 11th edition.
The development comes as preparations for PSL 11 continue, with the league scheduled to run from March 26 to May 3. The players’ auction is set for February 11, where franchises are expected to finalise their squads for what is being billed as a major edition of the competition.
The reported decision on Indian-market rights also surfaces at a time when the PCB has taken a firm position on wider cricket matters. The board has confirmed Pakistan will take part in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after consultations with the government.
However, the PCB has decided Pakistan will not play its group-stage fixture against India, which is scheduled for February 15 in Sri Lanka. The move, according to reports, is intended to put financial pressure on the International Cricket Council (ICC).
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has previously criticised the ICC, alleging it applies “double standards” and operates under influence from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The latest stance was discussed at the highest level, coming soon after a key meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Naqvi.
Naqvi had earlier met the prime minister to review Pakistan’s World Cup participation and had indicated that the final decision would be announced around the end of January or early February.
The broader backdrop includes recent changes around the tournament lineup. Reports said Pakistan reviewed its position after the ICC replaced Bangladesh with Scotland, following Bangladesh’s decision not to tour India. That decision was linked, in reports, to developments involving IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders and Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman.
Meanwhile, with the PSL calendar locked in and auction day approaching, teams are now focused on squad building as the league heads toward its 11th season.
