Just days after various senior political figures were criticized for violating Basant safety laws, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam was seen flying a kite with banned string in Lahore.
Videos shared widely on social media show Aminul Islam celebrating Basant while openly using charkhi wire, despite Punjab government’s strict ban on metallic and chemical-coated kite strings.

The incident comes at a time when the Punjab government has imposed strict penalties for the use of banned kite strings, including imprisonment of up to five years and heavy fines.
Aminul Islam is currently in Pakistan on an official visit and was earlier welcomed by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi at the PCB headquarters in Lahore. The meeting was also attended by PSL CEO Salman Naseer and Advisor to the Chairman Amir Mir, where the BCB president expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s continued cooperation.
Meanwhile, ICC Deputy Chairman Imran Khawaja has also arrived in Pakistan amid ongoing discussions surrounding the T20 World Cup controversy. He was received at Lahore Airport by PCB Advisor Aamer Mir, while PSL CEO Salman Naseer welcomed Aminul Islam.
During his visit, Imran Khawaja also meet PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to discuss Pakistan’s decision to boycott its scheduled World Cup match against India.
The Pakistan–India clash is currently slated for February 15, but the government’s announcement of a boycott has added further tension to an already sensitive cricketing situation.
