The PSL 11 auction is historic for being the first auction-based player selection process in the league’s history, replacing the draft system used in the first 10 editions. The shift comes alongside the expansion of the tournament to eight teams, with the addition of Sialkot Stallionz and Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen.

Karachi Kings had already confirmed several local retentions ahead of the auction and appear keen to rebuild around experienced overseas players. Warner’s inclusion adds instant firepower at the top of the order and leadership depth to the Kings’ lineup for the upcoming season.

Under PSL 11 rules, each franchise must assemble a squad of 16 to 20 players, including five to seven overseas cricketers, while also meeting mandatory Under-23 player requirements. Players selected in the auction will be signed on two-year contracts, adding long-term value to major signings like Warner.

Earlier, Islamabad United bought Faheem Ashraf.
