Islamabad’s district administration has made online registration mandatory for all ride-hailing and bike-hailing services to improve passenger safety and regulate transport in the capital.
The new system, launched on February 10, 2026, requires all drivers to register through the CITY Islamabad mobile app. Drivers must enter their personal details, upload their CNIC and vehicle or motorcycle registration documents, and submit the application online. Once approved, a QR code is issued as proof of registration.
Authorities have directed drivers to print and display the QR code on their vehicle’s front windshield or, in the case of motorcycles, on the fuel tank or helmet.

In addition, drivers must record passenger information, including name, CNIC number, and travel details, through the app before starting each trip. Officials warned that providing services without submitting these details may result in strict action.
Passengers have also been advised to verify vehicles before travelling. Registration can be checked either through the official verification portal (icta.nitb.gov.pk/verify-vehicle) or by scanning the QR code displayed on the vehicle.
The administration says the move is aimed at curbing unregistered operations and ensuring safer, more accountable urban transport in Islamabad. Drivers have been instructed to complete registration immediately to avoid penalties.
