South Africa’s Explosive Batter Joins Quetta Gladiators for Rs. 5.50 Crore at PSL 11 Auction

South African batter Rilee Rossouw has been snapped up by Quetta Gladiators for Rs. 5.50 crore during the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 players’ auction at Lahore’s Expo Centre.

Rossouw attracted solid interest from multiple franchises before Quetta secured the experienced left-hander, who is widely regarded as one of the most destructive middle-order batters in T20 cricket. His ability to dominate spin and accelerate in the middle overs makes him a valuable addition to the Gladiators’ batting unit.

The PSL 11 auction marks a major shift in the league’s player recruitment model, with franchises bidding for players for the first time instead of selecting them through the traditional draft system. The change coincides with the expansion of the league to eight teams, following the inclusion of Sialkot Stallionz and Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen.

Quetta Gladiators, who have retained a local core ahead of the auction, appear focused on strengthening their overseas contingent with proven match-winners. Rossouw’s signing adds experience, power, and flexibility to their lineup ahead of the 2026 season.

Under PSL 11 regulations, teams must build squads of 16 to 20 players, include five to seven foreign cricketers, and meet mandatory Under-23 player quotas. All players selected at the auction will be contracted for two seasons, underlining the long-term planning behind high-profile purchases.

Meanwhile, David Warner was retained by Karachi Kings and Faheem Ashraf was snapped up by Islamabad United.
