Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the model jail and National Police Academy (NPA) hostel in Islamabad on Friday to review ongoing construction work, 24NewsHD TV reported.
During his visit, Naqvi expressed satisfaction over the pace of construction and examined the barracks. Officials briefed him that the project, delayed for 15 years, has reached 85 percent completion in Phase-1.
The minister emphasized the urgent need for a new jail in the federal capital due to the security situation.
He also inspected the under-construction hostel for Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs), noting that work on security walls is underway and a Central Control Room will be established for digital monitoring.
Naqvi directed officials to implement double shifts to accelerate project completion and highlighted that the modern infrastructure of the NPA will enhance police training.
Key officials present included IGP Islamabad Ali Nasir Rizvi, Chief Commissioner Islamabad Mohammad Ali Randhawa, DG FIA Dr. Usman Anwar, and other relevant personnel.
