US Companies Want to Invest in Pakistan’s Energy, Mineral Sectors

Pakistan is seeking to attract more foreign investment into its energy and critical minerals sectors, as Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik held separate meetings with representatives of international energy companies to explore new investment opportunities.

According to an official statement, the minister met Gregory Bloom, President of US-based Morgan Hughes Energy, and Ahmed Waleed, CEO of Tijarah Capital. The two companies are jointly working on mineral exploration projects in Balochistan.

During the meeting, Gregory Bloom expressed interest in investing to increase production from Pakistan’s existing oil and gas reserves. The petroleum minister assured the delegation of the government’s support for boosting domestic energy production and facilitating foreign investment in the sector.

The two sides discussed plans to convert high-sulfur fuel oil into very low-sulfur fuel oil (VLSFO), investment opportunities under Pakistan’s new bonded storage policy, and ways to expand cooperation with leading international energy companies.

The meetings are part of the government’s broader efforts to attract foreign capital, enhance domestic energy production, and develop Pakistan’s natural resources and strategic energy infrastructure.
