Government schools across the United Arab Emirates have tightened rules on food items students can bring to campus, banning sugary sweets, fizzy drinks, and artificially colored snacks to promote healthier eating and improve classroom behavior.
According to Emarat Al Youm, school administrations informed parents that unhealthy ministered snacks contribute to hyperactivity, poor concentration, and classroom disruption, negatively affecting learning outcomes.
School leaders expressed concern over products containing artificial colours and additives, noting that such items may impact children’s attention spans and activity levels.
Administrations urged parents to ensure lunchboxes contain balanced and nutritious meals and advised families to discourage children from buying or selling banned items during school hours.
Schools emphasized that parental cooperation is essential to maintaining a healthy school environment that supports students’ well-being, focus, and academic success.
