Hyderabad Kingsmen have pulled off one of the biggest moves ahead of the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) season by signing Australian star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell.
It is worth noting that the Hyderabad Kingsmen franchise made a teaser announcement of the Australian cricketer on social media. However, the franchise’s official social media account has since deleted the post.
What makes the signing even more noteworthy is that Glenn Maxwell was not included in the list of foreign players registered for the PSL’s first-ever Player Auction, indicating that Hyderabad’s management opted for, and successfully executed, a direct deal with the Aussie star.
The signing also adds to the growing profile of the franchise’s owner Fawad Sarwar, who has already managed to bring in another prominent Australian name in Marnus Labuschagne as a direct signing earlier this month.
Glenn Maxwell’s availability also lines up with the international calendar. He was part of Australia’s T20 World Cup 2026 squad, but their campaign ended earlier than expected after a shock group-stage exit.
With limited international commitments immediately after the tournament and PSL 11 starting shortly afterwards, the timing appears to have worked in Hyderabad’s favor.
Hyderabad have been busy on multiple fronts in recent weeks. Alongside the Labuschagne deal, the Kingsmen have also secured key names such as Saim Ayub, Usman Khan, Maaz Sadaqat, and Akif Javed ahead of the season.
Other notable additions include Usman Khan, Maaz Sadaqat, and Akif Javed. In the auction, they also brought in Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Perera.
While off the field, Fawad Sarwar is expanding his Kingsmen influence, outbidding a IPL team owner to buy a Jamaica franchise for the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
