The National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP) South Zone Karachi on Thursday launched a special enforcement campaign against traffic violations on the directives of Additional Inspector General Munir Ahmed Sheikh.
According to the NHMP, the campaign aims to prevent accidents and ensure safe travel on national highways and motorways. During the past two days, the NHMP registered 11 FIRs and imposed more than 3,000 fines.
The operation is underway across the entire South Zone, including Karachi. The NHMP is taking strict legal action against public service vehicles and heavy transport vehicles. The campaign targets violations such as driving without a valid license, absence of fitness certificates, route permit violations, overloading, and overspeeding.
The NHMP also launched a crackdown on motorcyclists for riding without helmets, one-way violations, and overloading. The department has adopted a zero tolerance policy against wrong side driving and directed officers to take immediate action against violators.
The NHMP stated that it is strictly checking vehicles operating with worn out or unsafe tyres on highways. The department said it will continue registering FIRs and imposing fines without discrimination and urged citizens to comply with traffic laws to ensure road safety.
