The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued fresh instructions regarding the correction or change of date of birth in official documents.
According to the clarification, under the rules of the Government of Punjab, any change or correction in the date of birth recorded on a birth certificate can only be made on the basis of an order issued by a competent court for the relevant Union Council, Cantonment Board, or Municipal Corporation.
In line with this legal requirement, NADRA will process requests for change or correction of date of birth in the Computerized National Identity Card, NICOP, Child Registration Certificate, or Juvenile Card only when the applicant submits a formal court order along with a verified computerized birth registration certificate.
NADRA stated that the requirement of a court order is mandated under applicable laws. The authority said it remains available to guide citizens and provide assistance in accordance with the prescribed legal procedure.
The policy applies to cases involving correction or change of date of birth based on computerized birth registration certificates issued in Punjab. For further information, citizens can call 1777 from their mobile phones or email csd@nadra.gov.pk.
