The Sindh government has restricted airport pick and drop activity, allowing a maximum of two individuals to accompany a passenger. The decision was made during a high level meeting on security threats chaired by the provincial home minister.
The Home Secretary, Inspector General of Sindh Police, and other senior officials attended the session and briefed the minister on the security situation. The home minister said authorities must take strict measures in view of past incidents and accidents.
He directed officials to prepare comprehensive standard operating procedures to ensure quick response at any incident site. He stated that overcrowding at the airport requires stronger security arrangements and confirmed that only one or two persons will be allowed for pick and drop.
He instructed police to strengthen coordination with all law enforcement agencies. He also directed authorities to ensure the availability of search application devices in all prisons across Sindh and made it mandatory to deploy female searchers at all provincial entry and exit points.
The minister ordered a security audit of all important and sensitive installations, directed a crackdown against the public display of weapons, and emphasized full implementation of the National Action Plan.
