Deadline Extended for Motorcycle M-Tag Installation in Islamabad

The deadline for installing M-Tags on motorcycles in the federal capital is approaching, with only two days remaining before enforcement measures begin. Officials from the Excise and Taxation Department Islamabad announced that the deadline has been extended until March 5 to facilitate citizens who have not yet completed the process.

Director General Excise, Irfan Memon, urged residents to ensure that M-Tags are installed on their motorcycles before the new deadline. He stated that the extension was granted to accommodate public convenience and to improve compliance across the city.

Authorities emphasized that tagging is mandatory for both motorcycles and vehicles as part of the ongoing digital registration and monitoring initiative. In view of the upcoming month of Ramadan, the department has also revised the operating hours of M-Tag installation centers.

Different centers will now operate on 24-hour, 12-hour, and 8-hour schedules to manage increased demand. Two major toll locations, including Sector 26 and Phulgran Toll Plaza, will remain open round the clock, while several other centers will operate between morning and evening shifts.

Installation facilities will also be available at key locations such as F-9 Park and the police checkpoint in G-14 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Additional centers at Faizabad Interchange, Gulberg Greens, and Milpur will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., while sites near the Sabzi Mandi police station and Daman-e-Koh will also remain open until evening to facilitate residents.

According to official figures, M-Tags have already been installed on 8,928 motorcycles, including 2,069 installations completed in the last 24 hours. Overall, 238,080 tags have been issued for vehicles so far.

Authorities stated that all available resources are being utilized to accelerate the process and appealed to citizens to cooperate by completing M-Tag installation before the March 5 deadline.

  • This penchant for issuing DEADLINES is a relic of our colonial past. Without giving a thought to people who do not visit the haughty city quite often who will have to travel specially to pay for something useless for their practical purposes. At least give those out-siders a slack by allowing them to get the tag on their next visit

  • I have a query, i live at Fatehjang, Usually i use car to come to islamabad, if i use motorcycle to visit Islamabad, Shall I need M Tag for it.. ?
