A fire that erupted in the forests of the Margalla Hills was brought under control after rescue teams carried out an overnight firefighting operation, officials said on Saturday.
According to the district administration spokesperson, the blaze broke out in the hills located within the limits of Islamabad and Punjab. Relevant agencies responded quickly and managed to contain the fire after several hours of effort.
Around 34 firefighters from the Environment Directorate participated in the operation and worked throughout the night to extinguish the flames.
Authorities confirmed that the fire was fully brought under control at about 2:15 am. Rescue crews remain at the site to carry out the cooling process and prevent the fire from reigniting.
