The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Friday sealed 102 commercial properties across Lahore for non-payment of commercialization fees, penalties, and other violations.
According to an LDA spokesperson, enforcement teams sealed 21 properties in Faisal Town and New Garden Town, 11 properties in Gulshan Ravi and Samanabad, 55 properties in the Lahore Avenue Scheme along Pine Avenue, and 15 properties on New Defense Road.
The sealed properties included private schools and colleges, academies, clinics, pharmacies, grocery stores, restaurants, property offices, food outlets, beauty salons, and auto workshops.
Meanwhile, the district administration intensified field monitoring to provide relief to citizens by controlling prices of essential commodities.
The Lahore Deputy Commissioner Office visited the Harbanspura Ramazan Sahulat Bazaar and Singhpura Vegetable Market, where the assistant commissioner briefed the deputy commissioner on demand, supply, availability, and pricing trends.
The deputy commissioner personally reviewed the bidding process at the vegetable market and inspected the quality of essential items at stalls in the Ramazan Bazaar.
According to a briefing by the Market Committee, effective administrative measures resulted in lower prices compared to last year, with local garlic cheaper by Rs. 380 per kilogram, onions by Rs. 30 per kilogram, and potatoes by up to Rs. 35 per kilogram.
Officials said 10-kg flour bags were available at Rs. 850, while sugar was being sold at Rs. 140 per kilogram in Ramazan Bazaars, with sufficient stock and no shortages reported.
The deputy commissioner reaffirmed that the district administration is using all available resources to ensure affordable and quality essential goods and said strict legal action would continue against anyone involved in price manipulation.
