Authorities have introduced major changes to M-Tag installation timings for motorcycles and vehicles to facilitate citizens during the holy month of Ramadan. The Excise and Taxation Department Islamabad announced the introduction of new 24-hour and 12-hour service categories across multiple centers to handle the growing number of applicants and ensure faster processing.
According to Director General Excise, Irfan Memon, the number of 24-hour operational centers has been increased to four. Facilities at Sector 26, F-9 Park, Faizabad Interchange, and Phulgran will remain open round the clock for M-Tag installation. The move aims to reduce congestion and provide flexible access for vehicle owners.
The department has also expanded the duration of previously announced nine-hour shifts to 12-hour operations at most locations. Centers at Rawat Check Post, G-14 Check Post, Ninth Avenue I-9, the wheat warehouse checkpoint, Daman-e-Koh, and Murree Road near Tulip checkpoint will now operate for extended hours.
Additional 12-hour services will be available at Gulberg Greens, Milpur, and Margalla Avenue checkpoints.
Officials stated that citizens must bring ownership documents, a valid national identity card, and a registered mobile number to obtain an M-Tag. Authorities further clarified that the motorcycle or vehicle must carry an official Excise-issued number plate before the tag can be installed, stressing compliance to ensure smooth implementation of the digital tagging system.
