PCB Reportedly Slaps Rs. 5 Million Fine on Each Player After T20 World Cup Exit

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly fined each player Rs. 5 million (Rs. 50 Lac) over Pakistan’s disappointing T20 World Cup 2026 performance.

According to Express Tribune, the decision, was conveyed to the players immediately after Pakistan’s defeat to India, with board officials making it clear that future financial benefits will be linked to performances rather than routine “perks.”

Pakistan’s World Cup journey never gained stable momentum. The team started the tournament with a close escape against the Netherlands, followed by a win over the USA, but then failed to deliver in the high-expectation clash against India despite having familiarity with conditions and a line-up that included quality spin resources. Pakistan later beat Namibia to reach the Super 8 stage, but their campaign remained on shaky ground.

In the Super 8s, Pakistan’s match against New Zealand was washed out, while a defeat to England left their semi-final hopes dependent on other results. England’s win over New Zealand briefly revived Pakistan’s chances, but a narrow victory against Sri Lanka didn’t improve Pakistan’s net run rate enough. New Zealand progressed, and Pakistan’s tournament ended.

Sources say board officials are highly displeased and have told the team that if rewards exist for strong performances, penalties will also apply when results and standards fall short.

The report adds that the PCB may take further strict decisions in the coming days.

With the World Cup over, the PCB is now expected to review the tour and overall direction, with the fine being seen as the first major signal that accountability measures are being tightened.
