In a major relief for medical and dental postgraduate students, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has decided to register all students and degree holders who were admitted before January 16, 2023, after they are awarded their degrees.
The decision protects earlier batches from the stricter accreditation requirements introduced under the PMDC Act 2022.
During its council meeting held on January 7, 2026, the PMDC decided that all students and degree holders who were admitted or completed their degrees up to January 16, 2023, will be registered by the council after the award of their degree.
However, for students admitted after January 16, 2023, new requirements will apply. It will be mandatory for the degree-awarding institution to be recognized by the PMDC. In addition, the training center must be accredited under Section 25 of the PMDC Act 2022.
The relief applies to a wide range of postgraduate qualifications, including MS, MD, MDS, MPhil, PhD, FCPS, MCPS, and various diploma programs obtained from Pakistani universities, institutions, and the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP).
The PMDC has directed all eligible candidates to complete their registration process according to the prescribed procedures.

There is no job opportunity in Pakistan for MBBS and BDS doctors. Investing heavy amount looks use less. After completing the degree U have to invest 8 to 10 million more abroad study/ specialization. It is better to move abroad now rather than to get admission in BDS or MBBS
