DG Excise Explains What Happens if Your M-Tag is Stolen

The Director General of Excise has addressed concerns regarding the possible theft of M-Tag stickers, stating that advanced security features have been introduced in the new M-Tag system. He explained that the upgraded technology is designed to prevent misuse and ensure that each tag is securely linked to its registered vehicle.

According to the DG Excise, M-Tags are scanned at various checkpoints with the help of readers installed at different locations. Through this scanning process, the M-Tag is matched with the motorcycle’s registration number and ownership details, ensuring accurate verification and preventing unauthorized use.

He warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found using an unrelated or unauthorized M-Tag, and a case will be registered immediately against the motorcycle rider. In the event of theft, citizens are advised to contact 1313 through their registered mobile number to have the M-Tag blocked immediately.

He further stated that affected citizens will be able to obtain a new M-Tag free of cost. The DG Excise emphasized that the installation of M-Tags on motorcycles and vehicles aims to enhance security across the city. Improved traffic monitoring and surveillance will contribute to maintaining law and order.

The Excise Department is striving to provide the best possible facilities to citizens during the tag registration process. The deadline for installing M-Tags on motorcycles in the federal capital has been set for March 5.
