PAA Clarifies Reports of Partial Closure of Pakistan Airspace

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has issued a clarification regarding reports claiming a “partial closure” of Pakistan’s airspace, stating that such interpretations are incorrect and misleading.

In a statement, the PAA said the relevant Notice to Airmen (NOTAM A0134/26, referencing A0130/26) is a routine operational advisory.

It concerns the temporary unavailability of specific Air Traffic Service (ATS) route segments within the Karachi and Lahore Flight Information Regions during daily time windows from 0400 to 1000 UTC, corresponding to 0900 to 1500 Pakistan Standard Time, from March 3 to March 31, 2026.

According to the authority, these route segments are unavailable from ground level to unlimited altitude during the specified hours for standard operational reasons. The PAA emphasized that Pakistan’s entire airspace remains fully open and available for all civil aviation traffic, including commercial flights.

The authority said there are no restrictions on arrivals, departures or overflights. Air traffic services continue without interruption, and alternative routing options are being used where required.

The PAA urged media outlets and social media users to rely on official statements and avoid publishing inaccurate reports that may create unnecessary concern among passengers.
