Punjab Education Minister announced that salaries for over 12,500 newly recruited school teacher interns (STIs) have started being processed.
The minister said temporary teachers, who have not received salaries for the past four months, will have their accounts credited within the next week.
The Finance Department has released over Rs1 billion for the payment of STIs’ salaries.
He added that STIs are hired on six-month contracts, and future payments will be made on time. The move aims to alleviate financial difficulties for teachers and ensure stability in educational institutions across Punjab.
