Sindh Announces Holiday for Schools and Colleges

The Sindh government has announced a holiday for educational institutions on March 11 on account of the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA), observed on the 21st of Ramadan.

According to a notification issued by the provincial government, all public and private schools and colleges across Sindh will remain closed on Wednesday. The decision was taken following recommendations of the Sindh sub-committee of the steering committee on education.

Youm-e-Ali is observed every year on the 21st of Ramadan, with processions and gatherings held across the country to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA).

In a separate development, authorities in Islamabad have announced a spring break for educational institutions in the federal capital. Educational institutions working under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) will observe the break from March 24 to March 27.

A notification issued by the FDE stated that spring break will be observed in all institutions under its jurisdiction during this period. Educational institutions will reopen on March 30, while teaching staff have been directed to ensure the compilation and announcement of in-house annual examination results.
