Karachi Region Blues defeated Sialkot Region by 40 runs to begin their campaign in the ongoing National T20 Cup 2026 on Sunday at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium.
Batting first, Karachi posted a strong total of 201 before being bowled out in 19.2 overs, thanks to outstanding innings from wicketkeeper-batter Usman Khan and opener Ahsan Ali.
Karachi made a steady start as openers Ahsan Ali and Jahanzaib Sultan began building the innings. Their partnership ended when Jahanzaib was dismissed for 12 off 13 balls, including one four, with Abdul Subhan claiming the wicket.
Mirza Saad Baig was the next batter to depart after scoring 14 from nine deliveries, hitting two fours and one six before being removed by Sufiyan Muqeem. His dismissal left Karachi at 56-2 in 5.4 overs.
Ahsan continued to dominate with the bat and brought up a well-deserved half-century. However, his innings ended when Usama Mir took the crucial wicket. Ahsan scored 50 off 27 deliveries, striking five fours and three sixes.
Usman Khan and Mohammad Taha then combined to push the score past the 100-run mark. Taha later became the fourth wicket to fall when Abdul Subhan dismissed him for one off three deliveries, reducing Karachi to 103-4 in 11.5 overs.
Rameez Aziz Panjara and Wahaj Riaz were dismissed cheaply for two and a duck respectively, with Muhammad Ali and Hamza Nazar taking the wickets.
Usman Khan maintained an aggressive approach and reached his half-century while guiding Karachi toward a competitive total. Jahandad Khan also contributed quick runs during the later stages of the innings.
However, their partnership ended when Usman was dismissed by Abdul Subhan after an excellent knock of 81 from 39 balls, which included nine fours and four sixes.
Subhan struck again on the very next delivery when Mehran Mumtaz was dismissed for a first-ball duck, leaving Karachi at 194-8 in 18.5 overs.
Jahandad Khan was the next batter to fall after playing a quick cameo of 30 off 16 deliveries, hitting two fours and two sixes. Abdul Subhan claimed his fourth wicket of the match, while Muhammad Ali wrapped up the innings by dismissing Shahnawaz Dahani for seven off three balls.
Abdul Subhan was the standout bowler for Sialkot, finishing with four wickets for 41 runs in four overs. Muhammad Ali took two wickets, while Usama Mir and Sufiyan Muqeem claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Sialkot were bowled out for 161 in 19.4 overs while chasing a target of 202, as Karachi bowlers Khalil Ahmed and Mohammad Taha delivered an excellent performance.
Sialkot captain Usama Mir led the batting effort and top-scored with 63 off 32 balls, including six fours and four sixes, before being dismissed by Khalil Ahmed.
Abdullah Shafique contributed 28 off 14 deliveries, hitting one four and two sixes, before being dismissed by Mehran Mumtaz. Hamza Nazar scored 10 runs, while Khawaja Arham and Ali Afzal added 15 runs each.
For Karachi, Khalil Ahmed produced impressive bowling figures of 4 for 27 in four overs, while Mohammad Taha took three wickets. Shahnawaz Dahani claimed two wickets, and Mehran Mumtaz picked up one.
Karachi’s all-round performance secured them a comfortable 40-run victory to start their National T20 Cup campaign.
