The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has issued special instructions for passengers and transport operators ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The directions were issued following instructions from Additional Inspector General (IG) NHMP South Zone Munir Ahmed Sheikh and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Motorway Police Syed Fareed Ali.
According to the Motorway Police spokesperson, strict action will be taken against vehicles found overcharging passengers during Eid travel. Transporters and bus operators have also been directed not to carry passengers beyond the approved capacity.
Vehicles transporting passengers on bus roofs or exceeding the permitted number of passengers will face legal action and will not be allowed to enter national highways. Passengers have been advised to report overcharging or overcrowding to the Motorway Police through the helpline 130 or the South Zone contact number 021-99333336.
The Motorway Police also instructed transport operators to ensure two drivers are present on long-distance routes. Drivers have been urged to exercise caution and responsibility during travel to help prevent accidents and ensure safe journeys during the Eid travel period.
