Punjab Govt Issues School Closure Notification

The Punjab School Education Department (SED) has announced the closure of all public and private schools across the province from March 10 to March 31, 2026, citing fuel conservation measures.

According to a notification issued by the department on March 9, the decision has been taken in view of the evolving international situation and its potential economic impact, including the possibility of oil shortages.

The notification states that all schools in Punjab will remain closed during the specified period as part of efforts to conserve fuel.

However, examinations and assessments that have already been scheduled will continue to be conducted according to the previously announced timetable.

The department also stated that academic activities may continue through online platforms where feasible to ensure continuity in learning during the closure period. In the notification, the School Education Department directed all Chief Executive Officers (District Education Authorities) to ensure strict compliance with the orders.
