The Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) on Monday announced a 25 percent reduction in fuel consumption, measured in litres, with immediate effect amid a worsening energy crisis linked to the ongoing regional conflict.
According to the bank, fuel usage has been cut by 25 percent across the country, including at its Head Office, to achieve the targeted savings. All controlling officers have been directed to ensure fuel conservation in line with operational needs and to play an active role in supporting the country during the current crisis.
The management of ZTBL stated that small collective changes in daily habits can result in significant fuel savings.
“Given the current economic landscape, our country is facing a serious energy crisis that could lead to fuel shortages. In pursuit of national interest, ZTBL is ensuring resilience and operational stability by introducing sustainable measures with immediate effect,” the bank said in a statement.
Employees, particularly field staff, have been advised to use fuel-efficient routes and adopt trip-pooling instead of individual visits to reduce consumption.
The bank has also instructed staff nationwide to avoid unnecessary physical visits and rely on smart alternatives such as video conferencing and telephonic communication.
“Extraordinary situations require extraordinary measures. I am confident we can save substantial fuel without compromising our day-to-day activities and performance, in the broader national interest,” said Tahir Yaqoob Bhatti while addressing the bank’s executive assembly.
