Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has indicated he may step into politics in the future, saying he would consider contesting elections after retiring from his professional commitments.
During a question-and-answer session, Rashid Latif was asked which political party’s ticket he would choose if he decided to run in an election.
In response, he said that if he makes up his mind to contest, he would do so under the banner of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

He was also asked when he might enter the electoral arena. Rashid Latif replied that he would look at contesting elections after retirement.
Rashid Latif is a former wicketkeeper-batter and coach who represented Pakistan between 1992 and 1997 in Tests and One-Day Internationals. He later served as Pakistan’s captain in 2003, leading the national side in six Test matches and 25 ODIs.
Recently, the former Pakistan captain expressed his frustration on the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), following Pakistan’s 2-1 ODI series defeat to Bangladesh.
He criticizes the current selection committee, noting that former captains like Aqib Javed and Asad Shafiq struggled to justify the team’s selection during a press conference
Latif emphasizes that the team management is rushing to create stars, but suggests prioritizing players with a proven track record of 40-60 List A matches.
