Karachi traffic police have blacklisted more than 23,000 vehicles for repeatedly failing to pay e-challans since the launch of the electronic ticketing system in October 2025.
Officials said over 600,000 e-challans have been issued under the Traffic Regulation and Citation System (TRACS) since October 27, 2025.
The figures were shared during a meeting chaired by Inspector General (IG) Sindh Police Javed Alam Odho to review traffic management and the performance of the faceless e-ticketing system. The meeting was briefed by Karachi Traffic Police Chief Pir Muhammad Shah.
According to the briefing, vehicles with a history of non-payment of e-challans were added to a provincial blacklist as part of enforcement measures. The meeting also decided that a crackdown will be launched after Eid ul Fitr against motorcycles without number plates.
The IG took notice of a rise in traffic accidents across the city and directed authorities to submit a detailed report outlining the causes and suggesting preventive measures.
At the same time, he described traffic arrangements during Ramadan as satisfactory and said efforts are ongoing to improve the system, enhance public convenience and expand traffic management services.
